The foundation’s mission

  1. The foundation’s purpose is to protect nature and conserve landscapes within the meaning of the Bundesnaturschutzgesetz (German federal nature conservation law) and other countries’ nature conservation laws as well as environmental protection. The foundation thus only directly pursues charitable objectives in the meaning of the section “Tax-advantaged purposes” of the German fiscal code (AO) and operates altruistically.
  2. The mission of the foundation is particularly carried out with the promotion of projects and measures aimed at protecting the habitats of humans and animals (e.g. conservation of forests, climate, water bodies and biotopes). Depending on its objective and financial possibilities, the foundation freely decides how and to what extent the aforementioned measures will be executed.
  3. The foundation meets the aforementioned purposes by procuring resources in accordance with section 58 no. 1 of the AO for the promotion of the measures mentioned in paragraphs 1-3 for the realisation of the purposes of another tax-advantaged corporation or to realise tax-advantaged purposes through a corporation under public law.
  4. Grants to tax-advantaged corporations and/or corporations under public law which pursue charitable purposes other than those in paragraph 1 are allowed, but should not be predominant.
  5. When sponsoring foreign projects through institutions in Germany, the corporations considered are those that are tax-advantaged themselves. For charitable projects that receive direct sponsorship abroad, the foundation uses assistants.
